How do you defend against StringSplit(123405678, 0)[5]

Normally I would assign a variable to the stringsplit which would then either become an array with the entries or not. I could then check with ubound to make sure I am not attempting to call an array entry that does not exist, to prevent a program crash. With this new inline system for stringsplit I cannot figure out how you would protect against a crash? The only thing I can think is that you can only use an inline version like this if you have complete certainty that there will be an array entry for the number you have selected, which is not always the case, obviously.

Can someone clarify this?

I personnally wouldn't bet my life on rolling a dice once and getting 5. However I know some people tend to live more dangerously than I do.

This wonderful site allows debugging and testing regular expressions (many flavors available). An absolute must have in your bookmarks.
Another excellent RegExp tutorial. Don't forget downloading your copy of up-to-date pcretest.exe and pcregrep.exe here

PCRE v8.33 regexp documentation latest available release and currently implemented in AutoIt beta.

SQLitespeed is another feature-rich premier SQLite manager (includes import/export). Well worth a try.
SQLite Expert (freeware Personal Edition or payware Pro version) is a very useful SQLite database manager.
An excellent eBook covering almost every aspect of SQLite3: a must-read for anyone doing serious work.

If you do not want to use the new functionality then just do not use it and continue as you have been doing. ;)

I am just trying to clarify if there is something else "new" that would protect against it. If you are saying there isn't I know that I will likely not use that quick access new functionality on programs I make that pull site code apart because sometimes something is there and sometimes it isn't. I will just use it for known length arrays.

However your example is completely wrong and doesn't show correct usage.

Thanks. While there are many aspects to do with external UDF's, WMI, WINAPI etc that I do not make use of, I do enjoy looking through new features to see what I want to make use of. So far the stringsplit array inline access has some interesting uses although I have to be careful where I make use of it and the $function() is an interesting twist. Rather than shorten something repetative by making a user defined function to shorten, say, MsgBox to m(0,0,0) I can just save those lines of code by assigning $m(0,0,0)
