...4 years of scripting, banned from using autoit? solution?

Hey, I did some searchs and stuff but I can't find out how to solve this horrible issue... :(

My dad won't let me install autoit on his computer anymore and its the only one I have to script on.

I've tried to convince him that It didn't ruin his computer but he doesn't believe me, I've presented facts after facts and FAQ's but he still wont budge.

 

I was wondering if there was a program that has been made and compiled that will allow me to script and execute scripts without actually installing autoit?

You can script with notepad.

You can use Aut2Exe to compile.

All you need are the include files.

 

Can you give me a guide?

I have no idea what you're talking about, except include files.

Download Scite, it has all the necessary files. (You can download as zip and then place the files where you like to.

Exe2Aut is just a standalone compiler. (But I think it requires a .bin file as well, not sure though)

Hi Mouse,

Ask your father if you can run your stuff on a guest account from a USB disk.

It has been 4 years since I did this last time so bee kind to me if things have changed, ok.

 

EDIT: The scite version packed with autoit-v3.zip works out of the box when you have unziped. If you want the extra tools that commes with scite4autoit3 yust unzip the content to the scite folder where you unziped autoit and ppresto a working environment

Download the zip version of autoit and the ziped version of Scite4Autoit3.

Unpack them.

Open scite

Open options->open au3.properties and locate the section: # Commands to compile / run your script

Configure the lines according to how you unziped your files..

To get your own environment check out portableapps.com and other usb stick setups.

If your father don't like this idea you could always use vbscript. But as @guinnes pointed out. Try to get your fathers aproval before you do anything! Or get your own computer.;o) Personally I only use old hardware with puppylinux and occationally wine ( to run woindows applications )

Oh, I would not do that. 

He just doesn't want it installed on his computer, that's all.

Hes okay if I can figure this out.

AutoIt portable is what you should use, as mentioned before in this thread. I have it on a USB drive and nothing gets installed, and it works nearly the same as the installed version.

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

Make a VM on your father's PC, it won't be touching his. Or scrap together some money and Craiglist a used PC for yourself.............hint Dad, do I smell an "end of the year" (fill in your preference) gift??
