Cursor clock

I was thinking of making a clock like this.

I really like this clock too.

At first I thought you implemented it with 1 cursor, "running" fast all over the trail that is needed.

But now I see you simply drew the cursors yourself.

One possible Idea would be to try what I thought you did:

to use 1 cursor - the OS'es cursor, and simply move it fast, so it will "smear" the needed lines.

I think it would be interesting.

 

What's more fun than cursors?

 

Also other directions, in the painting way, would be smilies..

or animations.

With animations it would be really eye catching.

What about numbers drawn with "_GDIPlus_GraphicsDrawStringEx()", you know:

Seconds hand is made up of the text @SEC

Minutes is @MIN

Hour hand is @HOUR

and the clocks border is @MDAY

The CPU is meant to work.

And this is more for play and experimentation, it's not gong to stay 24h working.

Cool too.

I think you should add these options in the small ContextMenu you created..

That way the type of the clock can be changed from there, and the same code can have all types...

I've tried the "running" cursor thing, it doesn't look good at all.

Speed 0: The cursor is just flashing in different places, and not making a smooth line.

Speed 1: Too much time spent in the _Update() function

 

Though some creative re-coding might achieve a better looking result...

INMH the way to make it appear good, will not be to use Speed 1,

but to use speed 0, and add the delays yourself, using Sleep() with some really small value...

That way you should get a speed that is faster than Speed 1, yet not Zero speed.

@wakillon - The global declarations that are "In the loop" (lines 113 and 114), only happen once you click the menu item, so to me that is not *"bad coding practice".

*"bad coding practice" is quoted from guiness.

Global variables should never be declared in a function or tight loop. You've declared Global $iStep outside of the function already, so there is no need to re-declare it again. Just assign a new value instead. As UEZ said, a bit of code cleanup is required.

You zoom in to find the dots on the Clock are all little clocks, you zoom in again to find that....
