Seriously ^^

If you cannot call a dll function you will struggle with Plugins, (which are already available and have been for years) since you will have to create and compile one in order to use it.

I suggest that the help file clearly states that Plugin*() is designed for DLLs designed for AutoIt, and not DLLs in general, it might cause some confusion otherwise.

I'm seriously considering dropping this concept altogether. I'm not sure it's of a any use or that anyone at all is using it.  Also, it was never functionally complete and very much locked into ANSI s

If you are writing the plugin then yes. Plugins should be easier than writing a dll yourself and then using it. Only downside is that your code will only be usable in AutoIt, and there is a bit more to learn when writing a plugin.

Well, to be honoust. I've never heard of a plugin that works with any random program it's thrown at. Plugins are usually (always) written for a specific program.

The existance of the DLLCall_* functions may ring a bell too.

I'm seriously considering dropping this concept altogether. I'm not sure it's of a any use or that anyone at all is using it.  Also, it was never functionally complete and very much locked into ANSI strings as well. Just fail all round really.

Ditto.

This wonderful site allows debugging and testing regular expressions (many flavors available). An absolute must have in your bookmarks.
Another excellent RegExp tutorial. Don't forget downloading your copy of up-to-date pcretest.exe and pcregrep.exe here

PCRE v8.33 regexp documentation latest available release and currently implemented in AutoIt beta.

SQLitespeed is another feature-rich premier SQLite manager (includes import/export). Well worth a try.
SQLite Expert (freeware Personal Edition or payware Pro version) is a very useful SQLite database manager.
An excellent eBook covering almost every aspect of SQLite3: a must-read for anyone doing serious work.
SQL tutorial (covers "generic" SQL, but most of it applies to SQLite as well)
A work-in-progress SQLite3 tutorial. Don't miss other LxyzTHW pages!
SQLite official website with full documentation (may be newer than the SQLite library that comes standard with AutoIt)

I once made a plugin just to test how it works. But it's not needed if a standard DLL works the same way.

Is there any speed benefit when using a plugin? If so, this would be the only reason (and a good reason) to keep the plugin system.

BTW: Plugins would be cool, if they could be linked statically to the AutoIt exe file while compiling.

Yeah, I think that general DllCalls provide more functionality that these ever did. I'm going to strip it out.  I'm not even sure that DllCall() worked properly at the time I added plugins - it's a long time ago :)

I wanted it to use a directive at the top anyway rather than an open/close function. So I like literally nothing about them in their current form.
