Restart a scipt?

Hey folks,

Ive a script that opens and loads a file and runs some tests on it.

Now if everything runs correctly and the last test of the 1st file. The script will automatically run again for other files of the .XML extension.

However if I get a problem with one file is there a way for me to jump to the end of the file test or instead run the tests on the next file?

Below is code for a small script that loads the file into my program. However if you see the else statement instead of exit I want to be able to then run the script all over again except for the next .XML file.

Wow awesome but would that then move to the next file? As it loops?

No it would restart the entire script. My advice add some error checking and if no error then continue onto the next file.

But if I get an error in the early stages of the script theres no point for me to run the other tests so what I want to do is then stop testing that file and move onto the next one.

Ya get me?

So use the Return keyword  in the function. I understand, but I can't tell you where to do this since I have no clue on your entire code.

rite I could put it up but its pretty long.

Like what would I be returning? Return the close function of the program so it automatically moves to the next file?

You're returning False in that snippet above, why not change that to True and then Return False somewhere if there is an error.

ok say if I return false in the else part of the code. That will only give me an error, which in this case is good but it will still try to run the other tests.

I don't know, I have no idea what your code looks like. Maybe I will await for someone else to come along who has a better understanding of what you want.

If you want to have a completly restartable script, then you need to know what the script did last time.

After every start, and mybe even in your functions write the status to the file.

When the script starts again it always firstly looks where to move on by reading the status from e.g. an ini file.
