ZeeXEez
Hi ppl I've been doing a few things in AutoIt Since I'm formatted to work with classes/objects/interfaces I've discovered AutoItObject Now I've been doing some things with AutoItObject, yet I miss some things like the auto-complete in SCITE and the automatic help invocation from SCITE Also I think OOP is of such importance now (it is now supported in most languages) that it deserved to be supported natively in AutoIT ?is this planned ?is there some caveat preventing this to be done
jaberwacky
No. It isn't planned. Yes. The caveat is that AutoIt was never meant to be an industrial strength programming language. It's an automation language. That doesn't mean we can't try to push its limits though. Just stick with AutoItObject. I heard a lil' birdy say that things that are available in AutoItObject may or may not be available in AutoIt at some point in the distant or not too distant future. Besides, oop is not the only way to program successfully. water
I think that needs updating, don't you?The list still looks valid for "bare" AutoIt. AutoItObject shows that the language can be enhanced with "addons". water
Better wording would be "extend the functionality of the language". Meaning: You can do more than bare AutoIt can do. "real limitation of AutoIt are developers". D'accord. And: Sorry for my bad English. real limitation of AutoIt are My UDFs and Tutorials: Spoiler UDFs: Active Directory (NEW 2024-07-28 - Version 1.6.3.0) - Download - General Help & Support - Example Scripts - Wiki ExcelChart (2017-07-21 - Version 0.4.0.1) - Download - General Help & Support - Example Scripts OutlookEX (2021-11-16 - Version 1.7.0.0) - Download - General Help & Support - Example Scripts - Wiki OutlookEX_GUI (2021-04-13 - Version 1.4.0.0) - Download Outlook Tools (2019-07-22 - Version 0.6.0.0) - Download - General Help & Support - Wiki PowerPoint (2021-08-31 - Version 1.5.0.0) - Download - General Help & Support - Example Scripts - Wiki Task Scheduler (2022-07-28 - Version 1.6.0.1) - Download - General Help & Support - Wiki Standard UDFs: Excel - Example Scripts - Wiki Word - Wiki Tutorials: ADO - Wiki WebDriver - Wiki

ZeeXEez
I think OOP it's a very strong concept... and I learn a very useful one. I started also with functional programming (even lower, with assembler/machine_code) and evolved slowly to OOP, now I can't think of not using OOP. OOP it's also a small footprint implementation... It's more a concept than a library (you can confirm this by investigating AutoItObject.au3) muttley I've already used AutoItObject and for basic OOP it's enough... I just wish that support come embbed... So for now the inclusion of AutoItObject in the language, natively, it would be a gret improvement... At least for SCITE autocomplete and HELP + ERROR integration
