AutoIt Executable Startup Comparison

Hello,

I'm having trouble trying to have my Executable build only perform certain actions based upon if it is named a certain way.

For example, if say when I start up the application it is named "somename.exe", then perform [Action A]. Else if it is named "helloworld.exe" then perform [Action B].

I've tried something like,

if @autoitexe <> "helloworld.exe" Then

; blahblah

else

; blahblah

Is it possible?

Use @ScriptName instead, because @AutoItExe gives you the full path and file name of the script or the path/filename of the AutoIt3.exe file.

Not to beat a dead horse, but when I have trouble like this I always just messagebox whatever I've having a problem with just to visually make sure, in your case:

Msgbox(1,"Test", @Autoitexe & " = " & "helloworld.exe")

would show you that @Autoitexe was not just giving you the filename but he whole path. Anyways sorry for rambling

Well the help file is pretty clear so I don't see why you would even need a MsgBox.

It's called debugging. When having difficulty with a script and you don't know the value of a variable at a certain point, you put in some kind of output which tells you.

In other words, MuchTex was offering helpful advice for future reference even though the problem had already been solved.

More unobtrusive? What are you talking about?

If you are not sure that the script processes the correct data write it to the screen (MsgBox, ConsoleWrite).
