Which one is more appropriate? The Not keyword or <>?

Local Const $fNotKeyword = Not ($sString = '') ; Not keyword.

Define appropriate.

They both give the same result so I would say it comes down to personal preference.

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

No such specific difference

Maybe I guess Not keyword is required to make a case-sensitive comparison

Read the help file.

<> Tests if two values are not equal. Case insensitive when used with strings. To do a case sensitive not equal comparison use Not ("string1" == "string2")

Which would mean $sString_1 = $sString_2 is exactly the same <>. I was also wondering, because about 18 months ago I did some tests (just like PhoenixXL) and concluded Not was slower when evaluating an exp-ression, but find Not fits well for evaluating string values.

I use <>, I think it goes back to when I used Not incorrectly and had problems.

You must have forgot to encase the exp-ression in parenthesis. It's happened to me in the past too.

You must have forgot to encase the exp-ression in parenthesis. It's happened to me in the past too.

Perhaps, and I have seen it fail without parenthesis, but not always. <> never seems to fail.

$str = 'Test'

If $str = 'Test' Then MsgBox(0,0,"$str = 'Test'")

Thanks. People might ask why, so I will explain in one word. Readability.

By using the Not keyword (even without the hungarian variable notation) I can tell $fBool is returning a boolean value and not a string or integer value.

Well I could be wrong, so am open to suggestion.
