Hello,

I have a need to develop a software that will ultimately run on Windows 8 so I would like to know if anyone has tried to use AutoIT in Win8?

Will sending of key strokes work properly in Win8?

I don't have Win8 but the client is upgrading from Win7 to Win8 so this question?

AutoIt has Win 8 compatibility already and i have used it many times on 8

There maybe specialist UDFs that don't quite work on Win 8 but i haven't heard of any problems.

As the base is autoit even with those you should be fine

My advice, just give it a try as not everyone on the Forum has migrated to Windows 8. Some are even still using XP!

The same situation here. I am still use Win XP (on my desktop) and at times Win 7 (on my Laptop).

I don't have access to Win8 it would be very hard to ask my client to allow me to experiment on their system.

Up your hourly rate and then buy a copy of Windows 8 OR if your client doesn't like that ... say, I won't charge extra but you have to be aware that certain features will/may require more testing.

Sell it in a way that you're doing them a massive favour.

The autoit downloads page says "AutoIt has been designed to work on Microsoft Windows 2000/XP/2003, Microsoft Windows Vista, Microsoft Windows Server 2008/2008 R2, Microsoft Windows 7". Has the support for Windows 8 been added to the official release or is it only supported in the beta versions or is it present in the official release but not officially supported yet? When can we expect the webpage to officially acknowledge Windows 8 support?

It's not 'officially' supported in the stable version (v3.3.8.1) nor do I think the beta, as Windows 8 hit stable in October and the last offical beta was in April '12.
