I have a program that generates reports that follow a specific naming scheme of "(15 alphanumeric chars)_Report.txt" and I want to move those files into a specific folder. How do I specify those files? Using 15 "?" wildcard characters doesn't seem to work (i.e. FileMove(".\???????????????_Report.txt",".\Report Archive")) Thanks.

FileMove does only support the "*" wildcard - according to the help file.

Use FileFindFirstFile (supports the "?" wildcard) and then FileFindNextFile to process all files.

FileMove does only support the "*" wildcard - according to the help file.

Interesting as the API MoveFile doesn't support this, wonder what AutoIt does behind the scenes then. Maybe it calls FindFirstFile as well?

Well another option is get all the files and then use StringRegExp to test. OR just search the Forum for _RecFileListToArray which will show you how.

Try using the full path in both parameters of the FileMove function and not just a leading dot.

FileMove("C:\FullPath\???????????????_Report.txt","C:\FullPath\Report Archive\"))

The "?" wildcard does work in FileMove function. So the 15 - "?'s" will match zero to fifteen characters preceeding "_Report.txt". Sixteen characters or more preceeding will not be matched.
