$boolean = -1, If $boolean Then ... True? wtf?

OK, for the last fifteen years I have known that booleans are either 0 or 1. So why am I getting "True -1" as the output of this script?

From "Language Reference - Data Types"

If Boolean values are used together with numbers, the following rules apply:

A value 0 will be equal to Boolean false

Any other number value will be equal to Boolean true

Example:

$Number1 = 0

$Boolean1 = true

$Boolean2 = $Number1 and $Boolean1

This will result in $Boolean2 being false

Because 0 is False.

As stated in the helpfile on Language Reference > Datatypes

Oh. That is VERY helpful. Now time to debug about 2500 lines of code where I made the assumption that True = 1....

Copy+replace 'TRUE' with 'NOT FALSE' ? (Dunno if that works, but it should? ...or something similar...)

Also anything above 0 is True too.
