Where should it be placed?

In fact I'm not so sure whether it classifies as operator or rather a language construct.

AFAICT it doesn't interfere with any operator as it is equivalent to

_If(<condition>, <True statement>, <False statement>)

OTPH you can consider eveything this way:

(a + * (c + d)

_Times(_Plus(a, , _Plus(c, d))

but the process of evaluating the first line to the second is operators precedence. There is no such question with © ? t : f

Maybe we should say that operators precedence apply in all c, t and f parts individually.

It's an operator, as it does have a precedence value.

For example, look at this code:

Local $Foo = 1 == 2 ? 1 : 0
Local $Foo2 = (1 == 2) ? 1 : 0

The two statements differ because the precedence of ? is higher than ==, so $Foo will be True, but $Foo2 will be 0.

I have updated both examples. Now they are complete. They are not difficult, for the entry-level beginner.

Correct it has higher precedence than Not (i.e. any other operator).

Of course that ?: is operator. I just checked the beta help file and was kind of surprised to see it's listed under keywords. Developer who wrote language implementation (that would be me, ehh) for the operator also wrote documentation, but apparently somebody else thought they know better than the author what this conditional operator really is. They deleted description and example made by the author and added their own. So instead of correct description and meaningful example the help file entry for the ternary simply sucks in almost every way..

To summarize what ?: is - it's operator, conditional operator, conditional ternary operator.

I think it's time to lock this help file thread, as it's become over-padded with too many unrelated posts.

I will ask a Mod to lock.

You are interpretting objective critics as attacks, personal attacks. Last time moderator did the same thing.

I would hate to think that's because I'm the one doing the criticism. Really you should be aware that those critics are results of critical thinking, and that there is nothing particularly personal in them.

For personal critic I would indeed use PM, but I don't think you would want to hear what I have to say to you after this.

No, you're assuming my actions are linked to your second to last post, but that's all it is, an assumption. Use your head next time and don't let emotions block your reasonable thinking.

"So why lock it?" I hear you ask.

The thread is over 22 pages long with most problems having been fixed for the beta help file. Therefore from an administrative (not personal) point of view it would be easier to re-create a new thread and continue from there. Secondly, issues that have started to appear are linked towards the current beta and thus it seems logical to create a new "help file issues", that is linked to the beta help file as well.

...I took your advice and used my head.
