Starting this thread because the old one is locked, and I figured it's time to start the next version. :)

This thread is to be used for reporting issues and/or code improvements for the AutoIt Help file only.

Up until now those that have posted have done so in a clear and concise manner, please keep it that way. If this starts to deviate in any way then we might adopt a similar approach to Trac does.

Previous 'Report Help File Issues' thread.

Issues with AutoIt:

Before reporting an issue with AutoIt itself please ensure you've isolated the problem in a small script that reproduces the error, assessed in the General Help and Support Forum that it is not a problem with poorly written code and then, if none of those fix the problem, post to Trac for an AutoIt Developer to assess the issue.

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

Those functions you mentioned I haven't touched yet, also look at the changes I made to the File functions a couple of days ago (not FileCopy/Move yet) and you will see this is what I've been doing. S

The Help says that _DateAdd(), _DateDiff() and DateTimeFormat() require that the date portion of a date parameter be in the format yyyy/mm/dd

As the code, and experimentation, show, dates can be also be formatted in a few other ways: yyyy-mm-dd, yyyy.mm.dd .

As the code, and experimentation, show, dates can be also be formatted in a few other ways: yyyy-mm-dd, yyyy.mm.dd .

can you show an example?

His point though is correct, the functions will accept dates in different formats than just yyyy /mm /dd but the help file doesn't say that.

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

Why? What should it be?

There is some text behind "Value 1" all the way to the right of the screen "one or more of:" which likely should be "Value 1 - one or more of:" like for the other Value x's

edit: beta has the same issue but is more obvious since it is showing the cell borders.

Ok. I wasn't in a position to check at the time. I will fix it today. I just prefer it if something is wrong they say what it should be instead. As it might not be an issue, but more about the user expecting a different output.

ObjCreate(): a usage partially missing from the Help file?

The following code, copied from presents a way of calling ObjCreate() which is only partially documented in the Help:

I think that this is showing how COM can be done without the COM object being registered in the registry.

Perhaps someone who fully understands this usage might document it either in the Help for ObjCreate() or in Obj/COM Reference.

I do note that the Help for ObjCreate() already says that the classname parameter can be a string representation of a CLSID; however IID (and the third parameter) are not mentioned there.

As the code, and experimentation, show, dates can be also be formatted in a few other ways: yyyy-mm-dd, yyyy.mm.dd .

It's down to the use of _DateTimeSplit, which if you see from the help file accepts these variations.

What do people think? I'm thinking of adding 'see _DateTimeSplit for variation formats' instead of duplicating the same data.
