If you were to transfer the pattern he uses in the StringRegExp to a variable, you would see the real pattern, without the the doubled quotes. If you don't double the quotes inside AutoIt, then the pattern is broken.

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

You're over-complicating the pattern. "([^"]*)" will do in that precise case.

I'm doubting the ethics of using incompatible methods when compatible ones exist. This is where many problems begin. As far as coding practice is concerned, I would say this is not the best. I will stick to my guns on this unless you can convince me otherwise. So far I don't see any advantage to avoiding PCRE syntax.

Try making your pattern in AutoIt without doubling the quotes. You will probably find that the string used for the pattern will throw a syntax error.

You're right, I replaced every instance of double single quotes in that string with x27 and it still works the same.

I tried your SPE but could not find how to improve it.

The new array can be used in a loop from step 3.

Probably need to first clear the possible nested function calls.

Global $sString2 = StringRegExpReplace($sString1, "(\d+)", "321" ) ;Goal: $sString2 = "ABC321DEF"
ConsoleWrite($sString2 & @LF)

Trying to backreference the captured information and using a number replacement won't work very well because the back references are numerical, and the regex doesn't know where one number starts and the other ends.

Hello my friend i am just here trying to find a faster way to do that. I have a very HUGE text file with this kind of scheme:

<body>
<SOME HTML TAG>

Now i want to grab this infos:

#1 PRODUCTCATEGORY QUANTITY PRODUCTNAME
This is the desidered outout:

array[0] = 1
array[1] = PRODUCTCATEGORY
array[2] = QUANTITY
array[3] = PRODUCTNAME
I have also find a way to do that, but its really slow. Now i want to see what the SRE guru have to propose :P

P.S. Do you believe that a really big company has used this type of database for years? Now its time to pass to a real databse structure :)

Can you post significant samples of the inventory so that one can derive a way to split between the fields? Or do you know a criterion for that, or fixed length?

Consider for instance the pathological entry I make up:

#1458 Box of screws x 1000 43 1000 2" stainless screw Torx 25

Differentiating the three fields (#xxx would be easy) here can reveal problematic in the general case.

This wonderful site allows debugging and testing regular expressions (many flavors available). An absolute must have in your bookmarks.

SQLitespeed is another feature-rich premier SQLite manager (includes import/export). Well worth a try.
SQLite Expert (freeware Personal Edition or payware Pro version) is a very useful SQLite database manager.
An excellent eBook covering almost every aspect of SQLite3: a must-read for anyone doing serious work.

It's just like that:

#1 Box_of_screws_x_1000 43 1000_2"_stainless_screw_torx_25
#2 Box_of_screws_x_2000 53 2000_2"_stainless_screw_torx_25
So you can just simply split the data by the space. This is so far the wrost database that i have ever seen :D
