Get span content knowing its id

I need to get "123456789" from the following html code of a web page.

<span id="idname" class="classname">123456789</span>

I use the following code to open an IE window, load web page and get the span object by id.

$IE = _IECreate($WebsiteUrl)
$spanValue = _IEGetObjById($IE, "idname")

Now, how can I get the span content? Is there a way?
