BrewManNH Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 My guess, probably not. But until someone has actually tried it on a WinRT system, we won't know for sure. JohnOne Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 That's something the devs would have to answer, but I seriously doubt it, I mean definitely not your current apps, but I suppose there are some APIs specifically designed for metro so who knows. But seeing as how you will probably have to pay microsoft to sell/distribute an app anyway... SeanMaloney Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 Windows RT uses a new API set which isn't compatible with apps written with the current "Windows desktop" APIs. The WinRT APIs are also included in Windows 8 and I'm pretty sure are required to create apps with Live Tiles. So are there any plans for AutoIt to officially support the WinRT APIs on Windows 8?I posted this question earlier, here:
BrewManNH Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 Seeing as how AutoIt doesn't even support some of Window's present GUI APIs, that might take a while. JohnOne Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 I don't see why direct calls to any new API's via DllCall wont work. AutoIt Absolute Beginners Require a serial Pause Script Video Tutorials by Morthawt ipify Monkey's are, like, natures humans.
SeanMaloney Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 (edited) From what I've read, the WinRT APIs are meant to slowly replace all other Windows APIs, and in some ways, not so slowly. Right out the door, a Windows RT tablet will only run apps written for WinRT. It's making me nervous, but I love the idea of standardizing on a sigle API set, giving all languages equal access to everything on all Windows devices. But that's a long ways off, since I haven't heard of XP or Win7 getting WinRT support. Edited October 19, 2012 by SeanMaloney
