gruntydatsun
Could someone please help with an regular expression?I have a large string with lots of folder paths created using dir output sent to a variable. There are no files in the listing, only folders. Each path is on it's own line and terminated with @CRLF.An example of one of the lines would be: \\server\folder\folder\folder\folder\FOLDEr Site Name EtcI need to extract paths from the string where:* the last foldername starts with at least four capital lettersI am nine-tenths of the way to a regex-related rage-quit brain hemmorage. Please help.

czardas
I would first split the string and loop through the array like this. #include <Array.au3> ; For array display purpooses $sStringData = "serverfolderfolderfolderfolderFOLDEr Site Name Etc" & @CRLF & _ "serverfolderfolderfolderfolderfolder Site Name Etc" & @CRLF & _ "blah blah blah" & @CRLF & _ "serverfolderfolderfolderfolderFOLDEr Site Name Etc" $aArray = StringSplit($sStringData, @CRLF, 1) _ArrayDisplay($aArray) ; Test For $i = 1 To $aArray[0] If StringRegExp($aArray[$i], "([A-Z])") Then MsgBox(0, "Match found", "Array Element " &$i) Next This is the simple solution. You could also build a more complicated regexp to create an array of matches in one hit. I don't really have a lot of time right now so perhaps someone else can assist you further. jchd
Melba, you've missed the "at least" part before "4 capital letters".So make it {4,} <--- Oops, that was pretty dumb (eyes not fully open!)There is an issue: we still need to comply with the "last" requirement (last foldername).@OP,To make that work elegantly, may foldernames contain whitespaces? Are site name etc optional? If NO to both, try this:#include <Array.au3> ; For array display purpooses $sStringData = "serverfolderfolderfolderfolderFOLDEr Site Name Etc" & @CRLF & _ "serverfolderfolderfolderFOLDerfolder Site Name Etc" & @CRLF & _ "serverfolderfolderfolderFOLDERfolder Site Name Etc" & @CRLF & _ "serverfolderfolderfolderfolderfolder SITE Name Etc" & @CRLF & _ "serverfolderfolderfolderfolderfolder WITH Site NAME Etc" & @CRLF & _ "serverfolderfolderfolderfolderfolder WITH Site NAME Etc" & @CRLF & _ "blah blah blah" & @CRLF & _ "serverfolderfolderfolderfolder2FOLDEr2 Site Name Etc" $aRet = StringRegExp($sStringData, "(.*[[:upper:]]{4,}[^s]*)s[^]*", 3) _ArrayDisplay($aRet) Edited May 17, 2012 by jchd czardas 1 This wonderful site allows debugging and testing regular expressions (many flavors available).
