Drag Window With a Control?

Recommended Posts

I was wondering how to make a window draggable by clicking on a control?

I ask because I have a GUI that uses a background image, with no borders, and I still want to be able to move the window.

So to specify I need to move the window by just clicking the window and dragging it, but I am using a background image over the gui and it is set to $GUI_DISABLE.(to prevent it from coming forward)

I use the following function to drag a window around, only part of the window is draggable due to a problem that occurs if there are controls inside the draggable area the controls won't work. You'll have to play around with the numbers in the If ABS( line for your GUI.

GUIRegisterMsg($WM_NCHITTEST, "_WM_NCHITTEST")

Func _WM_NCHITTEST($hWnd, $iMsg, $iwParam, $ilParam) ; Windows Message function that I use to allow moving the windows around without a title bar.
    #forceref $iMsg, $iwParam, $ilParam
    Local $hGUI = WinGetHandle("Media Player")
    Switch $hWnd
        Case $hGUI
            Local $aPos = WinGetPos($hWnd)
            WinMove("Buttons", "", $aPos[0] + 70, $aPos[1] + 430)
            WinMove("Volume", "", $aPos[0] + 70, $aPos[1] + 475)
            If Abs(BitAND(BitShift($ilParam, 16), 0xFFFF) - $aPos[1]) < 200 And Abs(BitAND(BitShift($ilParam, 16), 0xFFFF) - $aPos[1]) > 0 Then
                Return $HTCAPTION
            EndIf
    EndSwitch
    Return $GUI_RUNDEFMSG
EndFunc   ;==>_WM_NCHITTEST

EDIT: Formatting error

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

The Moving and Resizing PopUp GUIs tutorial in the Wiki might be a useful read.
