.ini file new entries first

Hi, I'm working on a little script which controls uTorrent.exe on my homeserver (slow down the upload speed when my laptop or other devices go online, removes the upload limit when no one else is online in the network, updates the ipfilter.dat and also writes all those things into some log file which I display on my servers-desktop via rainmeter). My problem is: I want the logfile (currently log.ini) to display the newest entries first.

Is there any way to do so?

As far as I know Windows puts new entries at the end of ini files. If you want them in a particular order then I fear you are going to have to rewrite the file yourself.

Hmm.. what about using smth else than a .ini file? Like .txt?

As stated, You can rewrite the information yourself by using fileread/filewrite functions and it doesn't really matter what the name of the file is.

I think an .ini file is not realy covenient for a log file, is it ?

Because I'm practising a litte bit, I just wrote this piece of code for you, maybe it's useful.

It will always write to the beginning of a file.

Thanks, it works just perfectly for my needs I just wonder if this will also work with an .txt file that is 5-20MB ?

If you want to insert text at the beginning of a file, you will have to move the whole old data, so it is slow. That's the reason why all logfiles have the most recent entries at the end of the file since this doesn't touch the old data.

Alright, I will try to get rainmeter to display the latest entries instead of the first ones then.
