ripdad
I recently implemented a "fix" for WMI Objects in It was intended to deal with Object Loop Errors.I planned on updating SysInfoLog with the same code to deal with these errors. Can you tell me if GetCommonstartups runs on 2008 R2 and if you have any troubles with it? ricky
Hello, It's ok, it works without error's. Edit : Win2008 SRV is considered as the same stucture as Win xp or vista/7? Edited October 1, 2012 by ricky03
ripdad
Vista/7. Thanks for checking that out for me. An update to SysInfoLog should be soon. "The mediocre teacher tells. ripdad
Updated 1st Post to v2.05Just to make things clear with this update...I changed the way that "Object Errors" are handled. There is no more dreaded MsgBox coming up repeatedly once the enumeration starts on an Object Loop.I had that happen to me on a XP_SP3 Box. It wasn't fun clicking 20 times to get out of it - and I know thatsome of you have had the same experience.Once the error is caught, it will return and write to the log "in most cases" what error message it was. After that, the script should continue without further delay until it is finished. It's been my experience, working with WMI, that there is no work-around (script-wise) for 90% of those errors. For instance, if a hard drive is causing the error because of some device driver or because the interfacewouldn't cooperate -- then there's not anything we can do to the script to fix it. On the other hand, you couldbuy a different hard drive and it would probably work just fine -- maybe.Post a reply If you have any questions regarding this. Thanks. "The mediocre teacher tells. The Good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires." -William Arthur Ward

ripdad
Oh well, I changed the function to alphabetically sort them and I goofed on one of the string checks. ricky
I test your new v2.05 in my 2008 R2 srv and I have some errors : <--Win32_ComputerSystem Object Error - Line:1276 (0x80020009) Not found <--Win32_SystemEnclosure Object Error - Line:1276 (0x80020009) Not found <--Win32_SoundDevice Where Status="OK" Unknown Object Error
ripdad
The first two seems to have "the property name" (or else it would had failed earlier in the script) but it doesn't recognize the property when trying to get the qualifiers for it. Very strange. On the third one - that error is early in the script - does the machine have a sound card? I'm guessing it failed on Line: 1219, getting the count of objects. ripdad
ah - well the sound error can be explained. It couldn't find one! The other two must have a particular property name that is causing trouble. The rest of _WMI_SystemInfo() seems to be working, right? What about _WMI_GetATAPISmartData()? "The mediocre teacher tells. ricky
The rest seems working, Do you want the report? ripdad
I guess the place to start would be to get the list of property names for those classes. I will work on a script for that and PM you with it later today. Perhaps it will shed some light. You can Private Message the report if you want. Please replace the serial numbers with xxx-xxx before you post. Thanks. "The mediocre teacher tells. The Good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. ripdad
A warning that a variable is not being used -- amazing. I removed the code for it, but I do have plans for it eventually. Find a blank line in that function and write: $iFormat = '' That should stop the "warning". "The mediocre teacher tells. The Good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates.
