sleepydvdr Posted May 14, 2011 Share Posted May 14, 2011 Part of a program I'm working on needs to be able to delete a line from a simple text file. My program reads the text file and displays a list of items. I want to be able to select an item and click a delete button and it deletes the item from the text file.I could not find any functions in the help file such as filedeleteline (kind of like filewriteline). The only way I can make it work is to do a loop and read each line and write it to a secondary file until you get to the line you want to remove. Then I have to skip that line and start the read/write loop again until the end of the file. Finally, I have to delete the original file and rename the secondary. This process has added a lot of complication and confusion to my program. To break down for others, this worked: _FileWriteToLine ("list.txt", 4, "", 1) The '4' is the line number, the double quotes mean nothing to be written and the '1' in this particular situation deletes the line.
