Seems you are running Office 2013.
Here I have Office 2010 but was not able to find the specified registry key.
What do you need the default account for? Maybe there is another way to achieve what you want to do.

Oh okay :)

I want to define the "New Signature" and "Reply-Forward Signature" for the current users default account.
In Outlook 2010 and below it's located in:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Currentversion\Windows Messaging Subsystem\Profiles\Outlook\9375CFF0413111d3B88A00104B2A6676\0000000X

Oooh nevermind this.
I just discovered your _OL_MailSignatureSet, which makes life a lot easier :)
I don't know how it is able to tell which account is the users default account though.

The signature is always set for the user running the script.

A user can have multiple accounts connected to their Outlook, and is able to set different email signatures for each account.

Account_name_of_Default_Account2.png

_OL_MailSignatureSet somehow knows which one is the default account (the one that sends mail by default)

This is great!!!

I just don't know how it's able to do that :D

Now I should ask it the other way round ;)
How to set a mail signature for any account but the default account with the OutlookEX UDF?

Hi,

It's a wonderful tool. I can create appointment in Outlook using the examples but I try to get the appointement  using the find I get the message:

_OL_ItemFind.au3"
"C:\Users\\Documents\AutoIT\OutlookEX.au3" (1275) : ==> The requested action with this object has failed.:
$oFolder = $oFolder.Folders($aFolders[$iIndex])
$oFolder = $oFolder^ ERROR

What's wrong?

Thanks for the help

I just tested here and it works fine (AutoIt 3.3.12.0 with Outlook 2010).

Which version of AutoIt do you run?
Which Outlook version?

Hello I see that the first post wasn't edited in a year or so. Does it mean that the UDF is final and no more work is needed? Or that it has little to no errors so it is safe to use it in production?

I wanted to start a project to make a better autoarchive, maybe faster, and personalized but I want to know what are the risks of using this UDF.

Thanks in advance!

AutoIt is a blessing, I don't know how I was able to use my computer before [Auto]It :-S

Posted

If you have a look at the history.txt file you will see that I "Changed the version number to 1.0 because the UDF seems to have matured enough to become a production version."
No new version has been released since then because no bugs have been found nor new functions have been added.
I think this UDF can be used as savely in production as any other UDF.

Is anyone interested in functions to work with Outlook "conversations"?
You should be able to gather and manipulate items (mails, appointments etc.) which belong to the same conversation.

Hi, I was testing this script and works great, but I found a problem, when I use access doing a large script itself, OutlookExUDF waits until access finalize, and for me this can be, at least, half an hour. Can I find a solution?

Posted

AutoIt does not support multithreading so you can only do one thing at a time in a single script.
Can't suggest a solution without having seen your script.

i've looked over this UDF, is this compatible with exchange 2016?

I also don't see anything that allows you to automate the creation of a Distribution list or security group, Is there something in the future that would be coming out or is there any way I can help to make this exist?

Posted

As far as I know there are no problems with Exchange 2016.

Creation of distribution list/security group should be possible using the AD UDF. Never done it before as I only have read access to our AD.
I will check and post my findings.

The AD udf does let you create a group with the _AD_CreateGroup Function but there is much more to an email address in Exchange like alias's and MailFlow Settings and Membership approval. Stuff like that isn't allowed with the AD function.

Some of my clients have it where we have to create the Distribution/security groups in Exchange and not AD. They sync with each other of course but I'm trying to find a way to Set up a GUI for my associates to be able to create a Distribution list/security Group without having to open Exchange Management console.

There is a way to do it with autoit with sending keys through it and using the Autoit v3 Window Info app that comes with the installation but that is very time consuming. I'm just curious if there is something that you may know of that could make it a lot less of a hassle?

Posted

The OutlookEX UDF is meant to automate the Outlook client, so it won't help with what you need.
What comes to my mind is PowerShell. I use it in one of my scripts to create the mailbox for new users. You can run PS from AutoIt so you could create the GUI using AutoIt and then call PS to create the list/group.

I was thinking about that. I was just going to ask if if that was compatible but thank you for your reply. I'll fiddle with it and get it working. I'm pretty decent with powershell so that shouldn't be a problem.

Thank you @water Hey do you use KODA as your primary GUI designer? Are there other options?

Luckily I only have to make this once. Phew.

When you use Google to search the forum for "GUI builder" you will see that there are some other tools around. The latest seems to be GuiBuilderNxt.
I have only used Koda so far.

This is great. I have read the entire thread :)

I have only two cents:

1. One the first post, specify specs - this UDF version x tested with Outlook 200x works fully/partially etc

2. Help in HTML files with examples :)

3. I found posts 109, 146 and 177 particularly interesting.

4. I have a commercial system running at my office. It has no CRM functionality.  What I am thinking is to link this UDF to a little script which will query the main system, and send emails to clients.  Kind of bulk/automated mail from commercial system to clients.  It would require "pre-written" email bodies and attachments (such as customer statements of account).  Am I in the right place?
