[SOLVED] Send Key or Close Window Question

Hi,

I have this code:

Run("notepad.exe" & " " & $xx_file_name) ; open the result text file with notepad

Sleep(500)

Send ("^p",0) ; open printer dialog box

After the dialog box opened and user choose a printer, I would like to close the notepad window and back to main screen / main program. I try to send some key to exit notepad but look like the key pressed when the printer dialog box still opened, so nothing happen.

How can I close the notepad window?

I modified the code become:

$notepad_pid = Run("notepad.exe" & " " & $xx_file_name) ; open the result text file with notepad

Sleep(500)

Send ("^p",0) ; open printer dialog box

ProcessClose($notepad_pid)

The problem is the notepad window close right away without waiting the user to choose printer.

This code never executed since I put a msgbox between While and WEnd and there is not msgbox appear:

You have to use AU3Info to get the Window Title of the dialogue box that is show when Ctrl+P is pushed. I had Print as the text.

If you know the printer choices,and have MS Word installed, you could use _WordDocPrint, with a preceding choice of printer. Then it would all be controlled from within the script.

$oWordApp = _WordCreate (@ScriptDir & "\Test.txt")
$oDoc = _WordDocGetCollection ($oWordApp, 0)
$oDoc.Range.Text = "This is some text to print." ; The above just for demo
_WordDocPrint ($oDoc, 0, 1, 0, 1, "My Printer") ;this line is where the printing occurs
_WordQuit ($oWordApp, 0)

Mine too, I had "Print" as the text. This is the information I got from AU3Info.

But... it still doesn't work.

Is there any way to open the print dialog box in notepad except by sending Ctrl+P keystrokes?

I think if I can open the print dialog box except by sending Ctrl+P keystrokes, I can later close it using ProcessClose()

Not to my knowledge, but I rarely use Send() or automation Functions.
