Help File errors and forgetting ...

On french forum, we are translating the documentation and we noticed some bugs and oversights.

I began to create tickets on the bugtrack, but as I have some more of things to be indicated, I wondered if it was not preferable to create a subject or a ticket grouping together several problems?

In the passage, I would like to indicate one very important forgetting (for us because we can't continue this part).

In GUIRef.htm, reference to missing /guiref/GUICtrlCreate% (Just after the exemple image) instead of /guiref/GUICtrlCreate Management.

And there is also

In GUIRef_MessageLoopMode.htm, reference to missing /guiref/GUICtrlCreate.htm file.

In GUIRef_OnEventMode.htm, reference to missing /guiref/GUICtrlCreate.htm file.

Sorry, but I forget that the file in /functions/ are added on the compilation of the help file and I was perturbed by the absence of certain files.. :graduated:

So I edited my previous post to related only real errors (only path error).

Sorry for my previous error.

Having said that, there is all the same something strange.Certain htm files are missing in autoit-docs-v3.3.6.1-src.exe (eg: GUICtrlCreate Management and other).

Do I have to create a ticket by mistake found, or may I write everything following this message?

There is a sticky in this forum which is used by some of os that are currently working on the help file. There is a fair amount of work to bring that help file up to date with spelling and grammar checks as well as reviewing the examples.

If you see any errors you could post them there or Send them to either MPH or myself by PM.

Hopefuly the next release of AutoIt will see a corrected help file. There are several changes which have already been committed but as yet I have not received the changes so we are at a bit of a standstill at the moment but hopefully we will be back on track at some point.

I will add my comments to the link you provide. :graduated:

Is there a way to be informed about the major changes of the future documentation, because we are on translation, so if I can do less work for the update, I will be happy. :(

So far we don't have the list of committed help file changes. Still waiting on that.

Those doc files are a bit out of date IIRC. Although they were released with 3.6.1, I don't think they were the full up to date documentation since I'm pretty sure that some of the changes that were accepted didn't get into the last set. Also don't foget that some of the html pages are generated from text files while others are a manual process so if you find a missing text file it doesn't always follow that there is a correspondingly missing html page. I've heard that there are possible changes in the works for the way the help files are compiled but I have no idea how far that may or may not have progressed. As it stands right now, all you can do is point out mistakes in the files such as you did above and leave it at that.

It's hard work for anyone until it's all brought up to date and any changes in the build proceedure are implemented.
