The installer for SciTE4AutoIt3 copies abbrev.properties to %USERPROFILE% just the same as SciTEUser.properties, so the logical thing was to find where abbrev.properties was located (properties folder) and copy it to the location of SciTEUser.properties, which in the case of AutoIt Portable is the same location as SciTE.exe. guinness Posted December 30, 2011 Author Share Posted December 30, 2011 With the latest version of SciTE4AutoIt3 I believe (from looking at the au3.properties file) that "autoit3dir=" doesn't have to be set anymore and the whole program is self contained i.e. Portable. Therefore I will have to do a bit more testing to decide whether or not to update as currently the application works with the latest version. guinness Posted December 31, 2011 Author Share Posted December 31, 2011 (edited) With the recent changes to SciTE4AutoIt3, I decided to remove some redundant code and tweak the default behaviour of AutoIt Portable, which is to configure SciTE not to saving anything to its own directory. Now you can override these settings by tweaking the file AutoItPortable.ini, which by default has the exact same settings as SciTE4AutoIt3 i.e. save session files and recently opened files. If you want to revert back to the default behaviour of AutoIt Portable then delete this file or change the settings accordingly.Changelog:- ADDED: The INI file AutoItPortable.ini to override certain settings in SciTE. Both files are in the autoit creator folder on a memory stick. When I highlight and drag both files on to the gui it says "creating autoit portable". After a few minutes it closes. I had initially thought the download was a portable setup when I then realized it's a tool to create a portable setup. And I never figured out how to actually use it. Forgive me if I sound arrogant and such but I'm just curious in case I'm missing something obvious. I just re-read the EULA and this was the part that lead me to believe it was ok. Reproduction and Distribution. You may reproduce and distribute anunlimited number of copies of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT either in whole orin part; each copy should include all copyright and trademark notices,and shall be accompanied by a copy of this EULA. Anyhow, I've re-experimented with this again and now I see the error I had done, for some reason before, I thought it would create the setup from an already installed installation..It's working fine as far as I can tell now, I'll be using this now since it's pretty cool, I'll report any issues if encountered.Also out of politeness if you do have a problem it's best to let me know, just as I've done with your examples.Also, this is one reason I didn't report my problem because I figured it was an error on my side which turned out to be correct and the app actually worked, I just didn't understand it at first sight. (As it turns out I have just come back to this posting to say that I realised what I needed to do (launch Autoit.exe!) and that it works perfectly. Many thanks.) But while we are doing the idiots guide, (hope I am not testing your patience here too much though I am very new to Autioit ), how should I update the portable version when a new version of Autoit or Scite is released? To upgrade just follow the steps before with the AutoIt Creator, it will overwrite the files accordingly. Though on second thought maybe I should revisit the creator program again as I have a couple of new ideas. If I'm honest I didn't think anyone was using this application.
