Ultimist Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 I made a little test application with a simple gui that displays a picture and a few buttons. When I used aut2exe, it created the executable. But when I moved the picture file referenced in the script, to a different folder on my computer, the exe doesn't show the picture when loaded. So I'm assuming that the compiler didn't include my picture in the compilation of the script to an exe. Is there a way to do this? Being able to compile to exe seems pointless if anyone else who wants to use it has to have all the images in the same place that I do. Maybe this can be accomplished more easily than I think? Thanks.
Moderators Melba23 Posted May 28, 2010 Moderators Posted May 28, 2010 (edited) Ultimist,A couple of possibilities to get images, icons, etc into a compiled .exe:1. FileInstall. This places a copy of a file in your .exe which you can load onto the user's machine and then use from within your script. Read the Help file carefully and search for the many forum threads.2. Zedna's excellent Resources UDF (which you can find here). This is more complicated to use, but allows you to use files stored in your .exe without having to copy them onto the user's machine. It requires more effort from the coder to get everything into the .exe, but does have the advantage of not having to load files onto a new machine - everything is self-contained. If you want to use this you MUST read the Resources thread carefully and try out the examples - the UDF is not difficult to use, but if you do not take the trouble to learn how to use it properly, you will have problems.I would recommend trying FileInstall first - if you can get what you want that way it is far simpler.M23P.S. Ultimist Posted May 28, 2010 Author Posted May 28, 2010 Thanks, Melba. Do you know where I can find FileInstall? Thanks.

Ultimist Posted May 28, 2010 Author Posted May 28, 2010 Thanks. Didn't realize melba was referring to an inbuilt function of AutoIt, until I looked, lol.
