martin Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 Is there a way to check when a window/instance starts?Welcome louis058:)This udf by Siao might help. Serial port communications UDF Includes functions for binary transmission and reception.printing UDF Useful for graphs, forms, labels, reports etc.Add User Call Tips to SciTE for functions in UDFs not included with AutoIt and for your own scripts.Functions with parameters in OnEvent mode and for Hot Keys One function replaces GuiSetOnEvent, GuiCtrlSetOnEvent and HotKeySet.UDF IsConnected2 for notification of status of connected state of many urls or IPs, without slowing the script.
louis058 Posted April 4, 2010 Author Posted April 4, 2010 Wait, so what exactly does it do? Sorry, I'm a newbie to AutoIt, I was just expecting a short sequence of code, which detects when a particular instance has just been started.
picea892 Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 (edited) It hooks any window event and is the best approach. An alternative route which I suspect will meet your needs is below $flag=0 While 1 sleep(50) if WinExists("VLC media player","") and $flag=0 then ToolTip("VLC window created") $flag=1 elseif not WinExists("VLC media player","") and $flag=1 then ToolTip("VLC window closed") $flag=0 EndIf WEnd Edited April 4, 2010 by picea892
