ken82m
Okay I lost a load of data (video/music). I have some data recovery software pulling out. So far it's doing great! I've only run into one video file so far that wouldn't play. Does anyone have a script or know of a tool that can run through these and just try to open them up to see if they'll play? I don't need to test the whole file, if it just gets them to open I'll be happy with that. I found loads of repair tools but nothing that can simply run a quick test via the command line Thanks, Kenny Edited December 13, 2009 by ken82m "I believe that when we leave a place, part of it goes with us and part of us remains... The Kandie Man
VLC Media Player. It is usually pretty good about opening things. In addition, if it detects that the file is corrupt, it will usually say so and will give you the option of attempting a repair on the file. Always backup files before repairing them, in case the repair does more damage than good. http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ - The Kandie Man ;-) "So man has sown the wind and reaped the world. ken82m
Got it, if I redirect the output to a file (cmd /c application.exe>outputfile.txt) it automatically exits. Then I just read the file and parse the output Thanks, Kenny "I believe that when we leave a place, part of it goes with us and part of us remains... Go anywhere, when it is quiet, and just listen..
