I do not know the initial state of a system sound (ON or OFF) If the OFF state, the command Send (VOLUME_MUTE) turn the sound ON! And I want it to turn OFF!

I need to turn OFF the system sound to perform some action, and then turn ON the system sound. The command Send (VOLUME_MUTE) switches the system sound only. As you can ON / OFF the system sound? Thanks.
