TinyBackupBox v1.0.3.2 Update of 2011 - 12 - 21
dnix replied to wakillon's topic in AutoIt Example Scripts
Very nice script! One question though - When I run this on my Win 7/32b machine without escalating to Admin, I see a mapped network drive that I want to backup to, but since I am not running as admin I do not have rights to all of the folders on my local drive that I want to backup. So I try to run tinybackup as Admin, which allows me access to all of my local folders, but I suddenly cant see the mapped network drive. I did try running a command prompt as Admin, mapped the drive from that escalated command shell, then started tinybackup as Admin, but still cant see the mapped drive. Any thoughts? -
Set Fake Current Date / Run Date for an App
dnix replied to dnix's topic in AutoIt General Help and Support
Before anyone complains that this idea is unethical, I don't need to recreate this kind of thing, I could just use this app which is free but I dont really find myself wanting to work around trial periods for good software. I am simply curious about the technical mechanics. -
Hey all. I ran across a really clever little app that someone wrote that allows you to run an application and fool it into believing the date is some arbitrary date you set. The app is called "time stopper," and while I can't necessarily support it philosophically, I did find it to be extremely clever. Anyone have any idea how this might work?

How can the GUI be stuck to the desktop? HELP?
dnix replied to RomanK's topic in AutoIt GUI Help and Support
This is the caravelle guy...based on those posts I would normally guess he thinks little of everyone he talks to. But I will give him the benefit of the doubt and say English is probably not his first language, so his nuances might only have the appearance of offensiveness. -
Would love to see this work remotely.

Filecopy function timeout when using over VPN or WAN
dnix replied to rbrackettsv's topic in AutoIt General Help and Support
Did you get an answer to this? If not, I would advise you to optimize your MTU settings while connected to the network you are going to use VPN across (but not while connected). Could save you some headaches...use TCPOptimizer (google it). Seriously, may not be your code at all - VPN clients like a specific window size, but all the nodes between you and your termination point can break the way that works and cause timeouts. I had to reviews tons of network traces from users to figure out this was happening, since it can be very different based on where your connecting from. -
Hey all. I want to track uptime, which is easy, but i also need to figure out if hibernation or stand by occurs inside of that uptime, which seems a bit tougher. i want to do this without creating an event query or sink or service...just in case it wasnt impossible enough. I would settle for a hack that simply allowed me to occur if stand by or hibernation occurred. i have the uptime code worked out fine. Any ideas?

Does it require a particular version of AutoIT? I've gotten several errors running in v3.2.10.0.
-
This cannot be as hard as its seeming. For reasons not worth going into, I dont want to send keys or use screen scriptng if I can avoid it, but I need a script to go into windows xp explorer / view / toolbars / customize and remove the stupid UP button. I cant find this particular customisation documented anywhere...what the heck? Anyone help? Please? Yes I know this is dumb, but its a weird lock down thing I need to do on a machine for work.

autoit training...is there such a beast?
dnix replied to dnix's topic in AutoIt General Help and Support
Thanks Valuater - one question i have is what version of AutoIT is required. One of the things that has driven us a bit nuts is the amount of float between versions that results in unexpeted behavior if a script is written in version x.y and recompiled with version y.z. Not complaining, but its worth mentioning in my circumstances because we have standardised on v3.2.10.0. Looks very nice though! -
autoit training...is there such a beast?
dnix replied to dnix's topic in AutoIt General Help and Support
Oh I agree...and I am a big fan of self starters who have a little drive to dig in. But we also have to account for the lagging x% who will not get things done because they haven't been trained. Bogus i know, but an unfortunate reality I have to cope with in some passable fashion. -
I'm looking to formally make AutoIT an approved development option for my shop, but I am hesitant to expect some of my older guys being able to self train. Anyone aware of any kind of training opps out there of a professional level of quality?

Same here...seems to hang and data returned in the window appears to be continuously trying to scroll. very nice other than that though, I intend to incorporate into a group of workstations that have very low level / low tech users and require constant troubleshooting.

duplicate "right click/repair wireless" process
dnix replied to dnix's topic in AutoIt General Help and Support
Thanks! Actually thats exactly the kind of thing I was looking for. -d -
Hey all. I have a very very locked down set of XP Pro machines with a very limited desktop and I need to give the logged in user the ability to run something that essentially does the same things as right clicking on a wireless connection and selecting repair. Can anyone help? I have seen some nice wireless scripting that pulls wireless info, but my search didnt yeild much on running a repair. Thanks in advance...it never ceases to amaze me that AutoIT is still free and this forum is brilliant.

I really think I remember reading that BearShare was a front for some orgs trying to catch pirates.

Anyone using the latest code base have any luck making this work on a Vista (running from XP)?

<pppllllllllbbbbbtttt> Heavy exhale! </pppllllllllbbbbbtttt> I was holding my breath over the weekend wondering if it might get updated! I'm not rushing, I was just retardedly over optimistic and I need to rachet down a bit.
