peethebee
Hi! I coded this cause somebody said that my way of implementing language/translation support would be nice. So I coded a simple tool to make it availble for your applications too. You start the exe from the archive and select the source AutoIt file. Afterwards you specify the source lang. Look at Click4u (in this Forum, search if you don't find it) to see what it works like. peethebee Look in my fileman to get the newest version! Valuater
P, This could be the one of the biggest and most useful programs in Autoit.... If you notice, The users here are from all over the world and have different cultural languages. As I understand, English is the most widely used language in the world with Spanish second. If you watch "how you create this program" others can give you input on the differences for each of thier respective languages. This could be *HUGE* I would suggest you create the program in English base, as it is the median format here at Autoit Go P, Go with it.. and do it right! Click4u will be long forgotten while this could continue for ??????? (who knows) just an idea 8)

peethebee
Hi!@Valuater:Yes, it will be translated to English, but I like developping firstly in my home lanuage, that's why I need it *g*What do you mean by this?If you watch "how you create this program" others can give you input on the differences for each of thier respective languages. And thanks, that you don't like Click4u *g*@busysignal:I don't know how it could be in an include file. Valuater
If you watch "how you create this program" others can give you input on the differences for each of thier respective languages. This could be *HUGE*I am saying, there are many programs (like my *XPClean Menu*) that have faded into the shadows here at Autoit. I am also saying, If you develope this language program with good "interior" structure and design, you could easily implement many languages that will work with all autoit scripts. It could give programers here a way to expand their markets in the world... Thats a world-wide language program...I did not say, I dont like Click4u. I think click4u is a great idea. I personally have not used it much as I also have made an automation program also.8)

You will have to be patient with JON. He is really busy. You also have to realize he probably has a real job outside of AutoIt. If this was his full time job and getting paid he would be right on it.. Regarding the testing, my Deutsch is not that good so it is hard to follow. When you get a minute to update it with English I wll test it. Cheers..
peethebee
Hi! I could imagine that there would be a button in Aut2Exe, which executes Powertranslate with the file as first param. New version online in fileman (see signature). peethebee vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvGerman Forums: http://www.autoit.deGerman Help File: http://autoit.de/hilfe vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv
peethebee
Hi! Again a new version: It's v1.2. See fielman to download it. What do you generally expect from a translation program like this one? Valuater
P, Some suggestions ( I would like to help) First When you have a new version, always update your original post ( like they do with Autoit Beta 3.1.1+++) Your users will get what they want and not have to read all of these development pages. ********* Second Place time-outs in your message boxes ver 1.2, line# 39 MsgBox(4096, "", "No file chosen... Exiting", 5) and line# 50 MsgBox(4096, "", "Program aborted", 5) for future development, I will explain later ********* Third just a small "info" icon in the tray-tip looks nice line# 125 TrayTip("PowerTranslate", 'has created all necessary files. Just copy the "' & $sourcelang & '.lng" file, rename it and change the texts!', 7, 1) and the tray needs to show longer. I think the next line with sleep(4000) kills the TrayTip earlier than the intended 7 seconds, so it could be "sleep(7000)" ********** Fourth Your ability to work with $arrays is really awesome! You are a very powerful scriptor! 8) however, when I look at the scipt after translation, your work appears Intrusive to the orignal script ( over kill) Example original script MsgBox(0, "Title of a MessageBox", "Text of a Messagebox", 3) translated script MsgBox(0, $_lang_002__Title_of_a_MessageBox, $_lang_003__Text_of_a_Messagebox, 3) This would almost appear to be taking something away from the original developer I think it would best serve everyone if it was a little more simple like this MsgBox(0, $lang_002, $lang_003, 3) This looks less over-whelming in the original developers own script ******* Fifth I am a strong believer in some sort of information as to what the program is going to do, (same with Click4u) there is no menu/help at start-up. When I ran PowerTranslator 1.2, First thing I see is a open file box and I am not sure as to why or especially what it is going to do to MY script. Actually, what it does is awesome, but the fear of not knowing is what scars me. ********** I have alot more ideas for you and will elaborate later PLEASE P..... Don't take this as "just criticism" of your project, I think it is Great!!!!!!!!! I hope you can see these ideas as constructive talk to ya soon, RM 8)

peethebee
Hi! Valuater, you are GREAT! Thanks for this amount of usefull critique. This are all good points. We can discuss about them. We can discuss about them. For example I like to habe this lang var names because I know what their content is...peethebeep.s. do you have any general wishes?<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Like I said, your scripting ability is very powerful!!!!**************Firstwith the idea having the $var so you know what the content is..... is very important, but it could be placed in a more useful areahave the developers script look like thisMsgBox(0, $lang_002, $lang_003, 3)and have the .lng file look like this[lang]1=12345var, new $var2=Title of a MessageBox, new messagebox title3=Text of a Messagebox, new messagebox text4=Title in a Traymenu tip., new title in traytipWhere your previous information is MOST USEFULYou already know that $lang_001 is #1 above and this will help the developer to see where and what the actual text (in his language) was, so he can type the new language text right next to it!!maybe you could just put " new language here" as default... like this[lang]1=12345var, new language here2=Title of a MessageBox, new language here3=Text of a Messagebox, new language here4=Title in a Traymenu tip., new language here******************Second I get this "break' error (ver 1.2)$search = FileFindFirstFile("*.lng") If $search = -1 Then Break EndIf*******************thirdYour direction seems to learn toward changing the developers program 1 timetake a look at this and tell me what you thinkThe idea is to have the program work for the developerthen it is included as a language chooser for the end usermake everything as easy as possible for the developer and MAYBE many here will use PowerTranslate!!!!!!!!8) Edited July 3, 2005 by Valuater
peethebee
Hi! Thank you for your commendation. It feels very good *g* Your GUI looks nice. I will take a closer look at it to understand in which way it shall work. I think it has to be "Exit" instead of "Break". I got often confused with them... I don't think that it is too hard to drop the file to translate on the exe and choose the lang but a GUI is not that bad I think... I created a settings file where you can chosse which kind of langg vars you want the program to produce. peethebee Edited July 4, 2005 by peethebee vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvGerman Forums: http://www.autoit.deGerman Help File: http://autoit.de/hilfe vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv
peethebee
Hi! Again a new version online in my fileman! It's version 1.4. Changes: - fixed some faults in the translation_tpl.au3 file - added more options - shortened exe's name - New: second param is used to specify source language - Added: Readme file @Valuater: I don't see why the GUI is that much easier to use :-( It is not coded completely, is it? peethebee vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvGerman Forums: http://www.autoit.deGerman Help File: http://autoit.de/hilfe vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv
Valuater
@Valuater:I don't see why the GUI is that much easier to use :-(It is not coded completely, is it?The only thing missing from the End user GUI is..... "read all .lng files into the drop-down list"I thought this would be a great idea, however you seem to prefer the tray-tip*****************************ok lastly, remember that I suggested you have your .lng file look like this[lang]1=12345var, new language here2=Title of a MessageBox, new language here3=Text of a Messagebox, new language here4=Title in a Traymenu tip., new language here**** here's whybecause its VERY difficult to write "prompts" in another language ( you can understand that)my last suggestion is, you have a "Language Library" on your Fileman siteLanguage Library (folder)German.txtFrench.txtSpanish.txtEnglish.txtFirst.. people can open a language file, read from this library, and use the info on how write in another languageSecond.. After development they can send you the .lng files and you can update the library with the "phrases" most used for prompts Spanish.txt ; for example and the median language is always firstStop, AltoNext, ProximaGo, Iretc... etc.. etcmany developers could utilize this "PowerTranslate" library and many developers (from other Countries/Languages) can help develop it!!!!!!!!!!Good Luck8)
peethebee
HI! I didn'T think of a central database, but of a single file. You can ask somebody from the destination country to translate it... I don't think that it is possible to cover any important string in a central file, and a half-translated program does not look that good. So I think the transalter does the translation of this often used strings. peethebee vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvGerman Forums: http://www.autoit.deGerman Help File: http://autoit.de/hilfe vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv
