TraySetToolTip override default

Well...with TraySetToolTip we have only two choice:

1) Use a custom text

2) Use the default autoit string

With internal autoit function there isn't a way to not set a tray tip when mouse hovering the icon. The main problem is i prefer and want to use the default autoit icon without create a "new" one or the things will complicated, like we can't use TrayGetMsg(), TraySetState() etc. or other internal Tray Function.

I have think to use:

a ) _WinAPI_ShellNotifyIcon using $NIM_MODIFY on the autoit icon for pass an empty string to the tip. Creating a new one like here:

Isn't a problem but i can't find a way to edit the original one

b )  Intercept some message like WM_TRAYNOTIFY and return 1 to the tray tip, or something like that but this is only an idea

The AutoIt icon is controlled by AutoIt's hidden window. To get the handle use AutoItWinSetTitle to something unique and then WinGetHandle.

Thanks but not suit my case, that icon ignore the standard internal function and use a different callback for the messages. Without know what TraySetToolTip() does is hard, maybe Jon knows the solution?

Should still be possible to subclass the AutoIt message window (it's in the same process so is actually quite simple).

That will let you process messages before AutoIt does.

I have found my answer. After hour of search for the solution, found on the russian autoit forum ( of 2012 thread ) but the same answer was on THIS forum from a thread of 2008 by Jos, is soo damn easy:

_TraySetNoToolTip()

While 1
    Sleep(100)
WEnd

Func _TraySetNoToolTip()
    Return TraySetToolTip(Chr(0))
EndFunc

Is not the case to add it in the Help?

I think yes, at least like Example or something in the Remarks like:

The tooltip length is limited to 128 characters.

To reset the tooltip to the default text, use the function with no parameters:
TraySetToolTip()

To disable the tooltip, use Chr(0) like parameter: <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
TraySetToolTip(Chr(0))                             <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

The tooltip text is only changed when the tray icon is visible!

Adding that line or add another example to the help doesn't make any difference. Check this in the example:

I know isn't the "main" forum but if our help page of TraySetToolTip was like that I would have saved a lot of time.

Actually I am NOT going to add, just because it might be a bug with AutoIt. If someone needs it then they will find this post on how to HIDE THE TOOLTIP IN THE TRAYMENU.

I don't understand why you consider it a "bug", the Chr(0) like parameter was provided by Jos in person in the December of 2008. Anyway do what you think is better.

But the fact it "hides" the tooltip doesn't sound right does it. If this was the case then it would have already been documented. For example Int(Default) returns 0, but then this isn't documented in the help file, thus if it turns out to be a bug then we are in trouble as the help file says otherwise.
