can @extended be a string?

Just for the record, those constants are there because AutoIt doesn't have a #define directive and oh wait  there is PreExpand if you and everyone else on this Forum are so concerned with constants in their script. I don't see why people find constants in AutoIt such a bad thing, when practically every other language has adopted this good programming practice.

Next people will be telling me this variable should be Global?!

Local $iNum = 10 ; This is only used in the scope it's declared in. It would be global if used in Example() too. Thankfully Jon also confirmed this a while back and he wrote the language...so who you going to trust?
$iNum += 100
ConsoleWrite($iNum & @CRLF)

Func Example()
    ConsoleWrite("Example Function" & @CRLF)

You asked for it - it should be Global.

If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck and flies like a duck, it is a duck - that variable is treated as Global by AutoIt and so should be explicitly scoped as such:

Local $iNum = 10
$iNum += 100
ConsoleWrite($iNum & @CRLF)
Example_1()
Example_2()

Func Example_1()
    ConsoleWrite("Example Function 1: " & $iNum & @CRLF) ; And look what we get - the variable is Global in scope
EndFunc


Func Example_2()
    ConsoleWrite("Example Function 2: " & $iNum & @CRLF) ; And the same here

But we will never agree on this.

That variable is declared in the global scope, it is global, if it is declared in the function is it local.

If Jon says otherwise, Jon is wrong.

No agreement here either Melba.

For me Local at top-level means it's only for top-level code inside the current file only, similar to file scope (which is something I'd love to have).

Global anywhere means it will be used by some lower-level function somewhere.

It's nothing more than a declaration of intention and a hint of where exactly to search for usage and impact, should a modification be considered. For me declaring Local at top-level and using it sneakily inside a function is utter perversion.

A personal convention, needless to say. EDIT: but a convention that, if followed strictly, will prevent from hitting concrete walls repeatedly.

I use CTRL-F to find where a variable is used, scanning the code a line at a time is a bit too time consuming for me. Global/Local it's exactly the same thing to AutoIt when not in a function,
